The Art of Articulation is a practical guide I’ve created to help developing clarinettists build reliable, coordinated articulation through awareness, patience, and careful listening. Rather than chasing speed, this resource encourages you to slow down and understand how articulation really works — by refining tongue placement, strengthening rhythmic control, and coordinating the tongue with the fingers.
Articulation is one of the more challenging aspects of clarinet playing because it’s a technique we can’t see. Instead, we have to develop a keen awareness of how articulation feels, guided by how it sounds. This guide is designed to help you build that awareness, so each note begins clearly, consistently, and with intention.
